Happy Black History Everyday!

Pacific Island Chamber of Commerce is proud to stand up against racism in any form whether it be individuals, organizations or leaders. We want to clarify that we ARE NOT the Utah Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce (UPIC); we are 1 of the 5 Polynesian Chambers in Utah.

With the recent events of UPIC's chamber founder and president Alyn Toalepa'i openly supporting racism and black hate, we affirm that:

1-We stand with our black communities in solidarity against any individuals, organizations, businesses, and leaders who support racism and black hate in any form.

2-We proudly serve Pacific Islander, Black, Indigenous, people of color, undocumented, vulnerable communities and have done so going on 11 years.

3-We will continue to advocate and provide safe, inclusive, equitable direct support services for all who connect with us and are referred regardless of race, ethnicity, background, etc. We also welcome open dialogue with a willingness to lean in with love, patience, understanding and building a bridge for unity and overcoming differences that remove hatred, bigotry, racism and all forms of hate.

4-We challenge ALL our community group and organization leaders, including ourselves, to DO BETTER! Decisions we make personally and professionally directly impact our communities especially with the responsibilities we carry to serve our community in each of our respective spaces-we need everyone to work together towards the common goal of bettering one another with genuine love, care, respect, safety and openness for deeper awareness to unity.

Thank you to Parfé Diem & Boss Brothers Catering for elevating this issue and keeping everyone accountable! Thank you for your advocacy. Please make sure to support our black businesses like these two.

Questions? Please DM us or contact us at 801-403-4909. We look forward to connecting with you.
