To Our Community Members Who Continually Give Back To PIK2AR & Our Community At-Large….
You are the reason we are able to keep going. You are why we do this work. You give what you can, when you can, even when times are tough. You show up and give with your heart. We see you. We value you. And we love you.
We couldn’t do this without you. You show up for the actual work. You don’t just give when times allow you to- You selflessly offer your time, support, love, and energy all for a higher purpose- A COMMUNITY PURPOSE. This is why COMMUNITY is crucial to building a better world for ALL humans; Especially UNDER-RESOURCED Communities.
Community is what all Pacific Islanders Ancestors’ built, lived within, and thrived within. Community is what allowed Pacific Islanders to navigate the seas, cultivate our precious Lands for nourishment, and Community is where we celebrated our connection with both Land and Sea- and each other. It was in our Communities that we learned how to live in balance with Mother Earth, and how we learned to live in balance with EACH OTHER.
Community is KEY to overcoming hardships, voicing vital concerns, and fixing the issues- systemic or not, that we see and experience, as Pacific Islanders. Pacific Islanders cultivate VALUES within our Communities. And those Values include caring for one another- no matter where we are at in life, what age we are, whether we are thriving or merely surviving, Community is how we heal. Community is how we problem solve. Community is where ALL of this starts.
Thank you for being here with us on this Journey. Thank you for believing in the Mission.
With Grateful Hearts,
